Hamm is one of the greenest cities in North Rhine-Westphalia and is located in the northeastern part of the Ruhr area. Its population is nearly 180,000. In addition the landmark of our city is the glass elephant which is located in the so called “Maximillanpark”. Hamm is a young, multicultural, creative university town located in Germany‘s Ruhr district and offers all the advantages of a metropolitan region. The SRH University of Applied Science for logistics and economics is situated in the Heinrich-von-Kleist-Forum - all together with the community college (VHS) and the central library. It is perfectly located close besides the central station and the inner city.
Hamm ist a young and expanding university location. The city of Hamm has responded to the demand for student rooms and apartments. Most students live in private apartments for rent, either alone or in shared flats (called WG). The rents in Hamm and in the surrounding area are depending on location and size. For those who favor to live alone please note that the flats are empty and that you have to organize furnishings by your own.
